Search Manager, Organic & AI Visibility | Paid Search
We are Progress (Nasdaq: PRGS) - the trusted provider of software that enables our customers to develop, deploy and manage responsible, AI-powered applications and experiences with agility and ease.
Currently, we’re looking for a Search Manager to lead a small team of search specialists across Organic Search, AI Visibility, Paid Search, and related search programs. This role is responsible for translating company and product priorities into effective search plans, driving strong execution, and improving visibility, pipeline contribution, and return on investment across assigned products and markets.
You will combine people leadership with hands-on oversight of channel strategy, performance, and operational excellence. You will partner closely with demand generation, web, analytics, product marketing, and sales operations teams, while guiding agency partners and ensuring high-quality execution across the function.
You will also help the team apply AI and automation in practical ways that improve efficiency, quality, and insight generation. This includes identifying useful workflows and tools, supporting adoption, and setting clear expectations for responsible use and measurable business impact.
Search strategy, planning, and execution
- Lead search planning and execution across SEO, AI visibility, paid search, and adjacent paid online channels for various products with different GTM motions, distribution channels and personas.
- Use intent and performance insights to identify gaps in the LLM-era buyer journey (priority prompt sets, AI discovery queries, content, landing pages) and prioritize improvements that increase engagement, lead quality, and downstream pipeline.
- Translate broader marketing and business priorities into quarterly channel plans, performance targets, and optimization roadmaps.
- Define an integrated organic and paid search approach for priority initiatives so SEO and paid programs work together to improve visibility, efficiency, and business impact.
- Oversee day-to-day channel execution, ensuring work is prioritized effectively and delivered to a high standard across internal teams and agency partners.
Performance, analytics, and operations
- Own regular performance reviews across organic and paid search, using GA4, Salesforce, BI tools, platform reporting, and other data sources to identify risks, opportunities, and actions.
- Monitor KPIs such as traffic, conversions, pipeline contribution, return on investment, category performance, and conversion quality, and turn findings into clear recommendations.
- Establish and improve workflows for planning, reporting, testing, QA, and cross-channel coordination to increase consistency, scalability, and execution quality.
- Partner on measurement and tracking quality across paid and organic search, including setup, governance, troubleshooting, and technical initiatives involving CRM data, automation, and first-party data.
People leadership and collaboration
- Lead, coach, and develop a small team of search specialists, setting clear priorities, goals, and performance expectations.
- Support hiring, onboarding, capability development, recognition, and performance management for the team.
- Guide agency partners and external vendors with clear standards for quality, delivery, communication, and accountability.
- Partner with demand generation, web, SEO, analytics, product marketing, sales operations, and finance stakeholders to align plans, budgets, dependencies, and execution priorities.
- Communicate performance updates, recommendations, risks, and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders and escalate decisions appropriately when broader leadership input is needed.
AI and continuous improvement
- Review and expand upon our current use of AI and identify practical opportunities to drive continuous adoption, automation, and improved processes to make search planning, execution, reporting, and insight generation more efficient.
- Help the team adopt useful AI-assisted workflows and tools responsibly, with attention to quality, limitations, and expected business impact.
- Promote experimentation and continuous improvement within the team, using data and feedback to refine channel plans and operating practices.
- Experience in search marketing with strong expertise across both organic and paid search in a B2B, software, SaaS, or technology-oriented environment.
- People-management experience leading and developing search, SEO, PPC, or related digital marketing specialists.
- Hands-on experience with GA4, Salesforce, BI or reporting tools, and performance measurement frameworks.
- Strong working knowledge of Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and common SEO and SEM platforms.
- Experience managing agencies or external vendors with clear expectations and accountability standards.
- Ability to turn performance data into actionable recommendations and channel priorities.
- Strong communication, stakeholder-management, and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Practical knowledge of major LLM and AI tools relevant to marketing work, with the ability to evaluate realistic use cases and support adoption responsibly.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
Additionally, it would be beneficial if you have:
- Experience working across multiple regions or international teams.
- Experience supporting demand generation, pipeline reporting, and full-funnel performance analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
What we offer in return is the opportunity to experience a great company culture with wonderful colleagues to learn from and collaborate with and also to enjoy:
Compensation
